Just hours after a van ploughed into crowds in the heart of Barcelona killing at least 13 people, another car drove into people in the Spanish seaside resort of Cambrils.

According to authorities, six civilians and one police officer have been injured in the second attack.
Police shot four of the attackers dead and injured another one, saying they were "working on the hypothesis that the terrorists shot dead in Cambrils could be linked to what happened in Barcelona."

Earlier, Islamic State claimed responsibility for the deadly Barcelona's most famous avenue on Thursday, which was packed with tourists taking an afternoon stroll. The death toll could rise, with more than 100 injured, authorities said.
