Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's car was pelted with stones while he was travelling during his tour to the flood-affected Banaskantha district of Gujarat on Friday.

An SPG protectee, Rahul was travelling with SPG commandos some of whom were reportedly injured in the attack.

Sources said black flags were also waved at him at the agricultural produce market committee where he had stopped to meet flood victims.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the incident was disgusting and disgraceful. The Congress also said that Cement bricks were thrown at the car. "We strongly condemn the incident. Are we reaching a space in our democracy where political opponents are not going to be allowed to practice democratic politics!" Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Congress leader, said.
