Discovery of Nehru, staged by Sushma

Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj today claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign policy had brought India respect while Jawaharlal Nehru's had only earned him respect.

The foreign minister then got sucked into a controversy over a key pillar of the diplomatic legacy of the leader she was standing in judgement upon - a legacy she herself paid tribute to in 2015 without naming Nehru.

Sushma was responding in the Rajya Sabha to comments from Congress members on the first Prime Minister and to accusations that the Modi government was trying to erase his legacy. Read more
