For Gujarat Congress MLA Gyasuddin Shaikh, being shipped off on an unexpected retreat to a luxury resort near Bengaluru is going great, save for one little hitch: the food.

Shaikh was among 42 Congress legislators taken to a four-star resort in Karnataka a state Congress rules in an ostensible effort by the party to stop a string of defections last week.

The politics aside, the lawmakers are struggling to adjust with the South Indian cuisine, prompting the state government to arrange for a Gujarati chef.

Karnataka power minister DK Shivakumar said a Gujarati chef will be arranged for the legislators soon.
