Details of surgical strikes shared at all-party meet

The all-party meeting called by the government begins. Home Minsiter Rajnath Singh called the meeting to brief the parties in the the wake of the surgical strikes across the India-Pakistan border late on Wednesday night.

Union minister Venkaiah Naidu said, "Details of the surgical strikes were shared in the all party meeting."

Meanwhile, leaves of Army officers and jawans serving in the Western Front have been cancelled. 

Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal has convened an emergency meeting in view of escalating situation on India-Pakistan border. 

The Indian Army has started evacuating people living near the border areas of Punjab in anticipation of a possible retaliation by Pakistani troops.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal over the phone and requested him to start the evacuation of people in villages within 10 km of the border in view of the escalating tensions.

All schools within 10 kilometres of the India-Pakistan border have been shut down, informed the District Education Officer in Ferozepur, Punjab.
