Will vote for Donald Trump, says Ted Cruz after bitter primary fight

Senator Ted Cruz said he will vote for Donald Trump on Friday after not doing so at the Republican National Convention in July.

In a Facebook post, Cruz said he decided to vote for Trump "after many months of careful consideration, of prayer and searching (his) own conscience."

The senator from Texas cited two reasons for his decision. First, he wanted to honor his promise to support the Republican nominee. Cruz said the second reason is that although he has had "areas of significant disagreement" with Trump, "by any measure Hillary Clinton is wholly unacceptable."
