Maharashtra EC de-recognises 5 political parties

The Maharashtra State Election Commission today de-recognised five political parties for failing to submit their income and funding details.

State Election Commissioner J S Saharia said Janata Dal-Secular, All India Forward Block, Rashtriya Janata Dal, All India United Democratic Front and Indian Union Muslim League were given final notices to submit necessary documents on August 26.

But as there was still no compliance, their registration with the SEC was cancelled today, he said.
