The DGCA will send an advisory to airlines to advise passengers to carry Samsung Note in switched off mode or avoid carrying them. The DGCA has also summoned Samsung officials on Monday.

This comes after a Samsung Note 2 handset caught fire in an aircraft landing at the Chennai airport this morning, senior Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) officials said.

While landing at the Chennai airport at 7.45 a.m., cabin crew detected smoke in a Samsung Note 2 handset kept in the overhead bin.

The phone was on a Indigo Singapore-Chennai flight.
