Just In: Pakistan Foreign Ministry tweets: "Pakistan delegation 2UN HRC rebutted Indias untenable stance on J&K; slammed its persistent interference in Balochistan."

"Pakistan delegate termed India's attempts to deny its illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir a "travesty of history". Said if India had any respect 4 intl law, it would end its occupation & let Kashmiris decide their future thru the UN mandated plebiscite."

India had on Wednesday launched a scathing counterattack against Pakistan by raising human rights violations it perpetrates in Balochistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council.

India also took aim at human rights violations by Pakistan's politico-military establishment across the country, including Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

On Friday, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Tehmina Janjua impressed upon the UN HRC that Kashmiri people's right to self-determination is not only enshrined in the foundational documents of the UN, including the UN Charter, but has also been unequivocally endorsed in the UNSC resolutions.

She further added that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been struggling for over six decades to realize this right to determine their own future.
