Davis Cup: India lose opening tie vs Spain

India lost the opening tie of the Davis Cup World Group play-off against Spain after Ramkumar Ramanathan lost to to Spain's Feliciano Lopez 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 on a hot evening in Delhi on Friday.

Ramkumar lost the first two sets in their opening rubber but fought back in the 3rd set to take it 6-3 but fell short again in the Delhi heat losing the 4th set 1-6. 

Lopez had replaced Rafael Nadal as the latter had to pull out of the match due to a stomach bug.

India and Spain will play their second match when Saketh Myneni takes on David Ferer.
