A session court in Mumbai found accused Ankur Pawar guilty of murder as he threw acid on Preeti Rathi, who later died from her injuries.

In 2013, Rathi, a Delhi resident, had come to the city to join the Colaba Naval Hospital `INS Ashwini' as a staff nurse.

As she got off Garib Rath Express at Bandra terminus, Pawar threw acid on her and ran away. Doctors tried their best to heal the burn injuries but the wounds continued to bleed and her kidneys also developed complications.

The quantum of sentence for convict Ankur Panwar to be pronounced tomorrow by Mumbai sessions court.
