Pak summons India's Deputy HC over 'ceasefire violations'

For the third time this week, Pakistan on Friday summoned the Indian deputy high commissioner and lodged a strong protest over alleged "unprovoked firing" by Indian forces along the working boundary and Line of Control.

"(Pakistan) strongly condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations on October 27 by the Indian Forces at the working boundary in Shakargarh sector and on the LoC in Nikial sector" resulting in the death of six civilians, including two women, and injuries to 22 civilians, Pakistan Foreign Office said.

Director General (South Asia and SAARC) Dr Mohammad Faisal summoned India's Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh, the Foreign Office said.

The Director General urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire understanding between the two countries.

Pakistan also asked India to investigate the continued incidents of "ceasefire violations", instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit, stop "targeting" the villages and civilians and maintain peace on

the working boundary and the LoC, it said.

This was the third time this week that India's deputy high commissioner was summoned to the Foreign Office for "ceasefire violations".
