Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said that any donations to the Indian Army Welfare Fund should be voluntary and "there should be no catching of anyone's neck".

His remarks assume significance after a row broke out over the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil row. Earlier on Saturday, the MNS, Karan Johar and the CM met and following the meeting it was announced that Johar would pay a Rs 5 crore donation to the army fund for having Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in his movie.

The move has been severely criticised with many ex army officials saying that the donation amounted to extortion and the army didn't want to play any part in this.
