Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has apologised for the cartoon that was published in the party's mouthpiece 'Saamana'.

The cartoon, which was published on Sunday, appears to have played with the words Mook Morcha (silent rally) and made it Mooka Morcha (kiss rally). The Sena drew immense flak from various political parties including its ally Bharatiya Janata Party for this attempt at humour.

An FIR was also lodged against Thackeray, Saamana executive editor Sanjay Raut, cartoonist Ravindra Prabhudesai and printer and publisher Rajendra Bhagwat for the 'offensive' cartoon.

Following the publication of the cartoon, the newspaper's office in Navi Mumbai was stoned on Tuesday, damaging two-three glasses on the buildings outer wall.
