Lok Sabha passes Tax Laws (2nd) Amendment Bill without debate

Bill to amend Income Tax Act to impose tax on deposits made post-demonetisation passed by Lok Sabha without debate.

The Bill passed in Lok Sabha amid sloganeering by Opposition members who wanted an adjournment motion and was seeking the PM's presence in House to discuss the demonetisation issue.

Amid shouts of 'Modi teri tana shahi, nahi chalegi, nahi chalegi', and 'Modi sarkar shame shame', Speaker Sumitra Mahajan put the Bill and the amendments for voting.

As the Opposition members kept on shouting, the Bill was declared passed by the speaker.

The Lok Sabha was then adjourned fro the day.
