"The PM suddenly came up with this decision acting like God. Never asked who needs Rs 500/1,000 and made the demonetization move," she said.

"Bazaar, cinema, jatra (theatre) -- everything got affected, but he (the PM) didnt care about the common people," Banerjee said.

In New Delhi, Communist Party of India-Marxist general secretary Sitaram Yechury said, "The PM is not facing Parliament, he goes and speaks in other countries but not in Parliament."
