Banks open to a deluge of customers

Banks and ATMs reopened after a day today and will stay open this weekend to help people swap 500 and 1,000 rupee notes which are now banned. Even before banking hours, people queued up banks to change or deposit their Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. Lakhs of people stuck with higher denomination notes were scrambling yesterday to buy provisions.
