Army bids adieu to soldier martyred in Poonch

The Army today paid its last respects to Naik Tupare Rajendra Narayan, who laid down his life while guarding the nation's frontiers at the Line of Control in Poonch Sector of Jammu and Kashmir yesterday.

A wreath laying ceremony was organised in honour of the brave martyr Narayan who laid down his life guarding the nation's frontiers at the LoC in Poonch Sector, a defence spokesman said.

He said the ceremonial military send-off was held at Rajouri this morning.

"General Officer Commanding, Ace of Spades Division, laida wreath on behalf of Lieutenant General A K Sharma, General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps and all ranks," the spokesman said.

He said the mortal remains of the soldier are being sent to his native village for performing the last rites.

Narayan, who hailed from Karve village of Kolhapur district in Maharashtra, is survived by his wife Sharmila.

"He was a thorough professional and loved his job to the core. The nation will remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and his devotion to duty will continue to motivate the future generations," the spokesman added.
