4 detained over burning of schools in Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir police has detained four people under Public Safety Act in connection with burning of schools.

"Apart from these four, 12 people have been arrested and 26 have been questioned so far," Kulgam Superintendent of Police Shridhar Patel said.

The Jammu and Kashmir high court had on Monday directed police and civil administration officials to devise modes and methods for protecting schools from miscreants in the Valley.

The high court took suo motu cognisance of the reports about 26 schools being burnt in Kashmir Valley over the past 115 days of the unrest which started following the killing of terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in July.
