Chinese Prez calls Pranab a friend and guide

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday described his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee as 'a statesman, a guide, a friend and a philosopher', while the two leaders discussed various issues like terrorism, international relations and -- in particular -- the issues between the two nations vis--vis United Nations.
The talks between the two leaders were focused on three major issues -- economic affairs, political relations and nuclear programmes.
The meeting was followed by delegation-level talks at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
The Indian President told the Chinese leadership about many initiatives taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also concentrated on climate change issue and thanked the Chinese support to India at international fora and the UN. By R Rajagopalan in Beijing.
