Encounter rages in Drugmulla village of north Kashmir

A gunfight broke out between government forces and a group of militants at Drugmulla area of north Kashmirs Kupwara district on Saturday.

A senior police officer told Srinagar based news agency Global News Service that SOG, armys 47 RR and CRPF cordoned off the Check Drugmulla area following specific information about the presence of some militants.

The forces, as such, intensified the cordon-and-search operation and fired several warning shots towards the suspected spot, the officer said, adding that the militants hiding inside the house opened fire, triggering off an encounter.
