The University Grants Commission has asked colleges and varsities to encourage their students to share their views with the Prime Minister on the Narendra Modi mobile app.

In a letter written to all universities, UGC secretary Jaspal S Sandhu said that the prime minister had expressed such a desire in one of his Mann ki Baat addresses on radio.

In another letter, the UGC has said that it has noticed that on important events, the National Flag made of plastic are being used in place of paper flag.

These plastic flags being non biodegradable do not get decomposed easily. Appropriate disposal of National Flags made of plastic with dignity of the flag is a big problem, it said and emphasised that the Flag Code should be strictly adhered to.
