AAP leader Kumar Vishwas's song 'Ek Nasha' on drug abuse in Punjab has gone viral on YouTube and has got him a pat on the back from his boss, party chief Arvind Kejriwal.


The song, which was launched on Sunday, has upset the Badals in Punjab. It accuses the family ruling the state of selling sand and  trading heroin among other things. A line from the song goes, "Sukhbir Bana dukhbir jadon Prakash karne laga andhera (Sukhbir inflicted pain when Prakash spread darkness)."


Kumar Vishwas sings in Punjabi, "O Jat, Shun Drugs, Your Little Daughter Appeals To You." The video features lookalikes of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son and Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal.


Vishwas, a poet and a senior party leader has written, composed and sung the song. The song also talks about corruption in the police, farmer suicides, and advises listeners to take up the broom (the AAP's symbol) to clean the state.


This comes at a time when the state is readying to go to polls early next year. The songs are in Hindi and Punjabi and will be telecast on most of the TV channels in Punjab in the months to come.


Speaking to NDTV, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, said, "It is wrong to project the Jat community as drug addicts. Had they been so... how is that we produce so much foodgrain for the country? AAP is known for all this."


For once, AAP has hit where it hurts. A study conducted by AIIMS has found that opium based derivates worth Rs 75,000 crore are consumed by Punjab every year out of which heroin's share alone is Rs 65,000 crore.
