The Supreme Court on Wednesday acquitted four of the 16 accused in the 1993 Rajdhani Express blasts case. The case dates back to 1993, when trains including a Rajdhani Express were targeted by the accused exactly one year after the Babri Masjid demolition.

On December 5 and 6, 1993, five explosions took place on four trains Delhi and Howrah-bound Rajdhani trains, Flying Queen Express and AP Express killing over 200 people and hundred others were injured.

While the blasts on Rajdhani trains took place near Kanpur, the other explosions took place at Kota (Rajasthan) and Malkajgiri (Andhra Pradesh).

In 2004, the TADA court had found the accused guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment. The accused had then appealed to the Supreme Court.  Details awaited.
