Jairam Ramesh's Aadhar case in SC
May 10, 2016  17:17
In the matter of Jairam Ramesh vs the Union of India challenging the validity of the Aadhar Bill, the Chief Justice asked the Attorney General to appear in compliance of his previous order dated April 25.

The Attorney General began by emphasizing the fact that the petition is not maintainable. After making initial inquiries about the proceedings within Parliament at the time when the Aadhar Bill was introduced as a money bill the CJI  sought P Chidambaram and Kapil  Sibal's explanation on the maintainability of the petition.

In response to the same, Chidambaram drew the  court's attention to a previous judgement whereby the it was laid down that the judicial review of the proceedings of the Parliament is possible. The matter is now fixed for further arguments in the third week of July.
