Congress to disrupt RS on Wednesday

Chaos will rule the Upper House on Wednesday.

Our sources tell us that Congress MPs have decided to disrupt Parliament proceedings on Wednesday, which is when the Rajya Sabha is scheduled to take up the Agusta Westland Helicopter scam for discussion in the House.

Madhusudan Mistry, the Congress MP from Gujarat, has been enrolling a few of the more disruptive Congress MPs who would not shy away from clambering on to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's desk and possibly grab the statement on the AgustaWestland deal from his hands.

Similar incidents have taken place earlier in the Rajya Sabha when the Womens Reservation Bill was passed. SP, RJD and BSP MPs created a ruckus inside the House and the CRPF and Marshalls had to be summoned.

Then there was the time when BJP MP Ram Jethmalani, who was then Law Minister, introduced the same Womens' Bill when Vajpayee was PM. Again SP and RJD MPs created a ruckus.

So, if the Congress does disrupt proceedings on Wednesday, it would hardly be the first time it has happened in the House.
