Sky not the limit, says PM remote-launching Asia's largest telescope from Belgium

Even the sky is not the limit for the project, PM Modi says on Aryabhatta Research Institute (ARIES) Telescope, which he remotely launched from Brussels. 

Asia's largest "general purpose" optical telescope installed in Devsthal, 60 km from Nainital, will begin operating today after Prime Minster Narendra Modi remotely activated it from Belgium.


A team of scientists, along with Union science and technology minister Harsh Vardhan, will be present in the 10-storey building, which houses the telescope, at the time of inauguration.


A release issued from the Prime Minister's Office, quoting PM Modi said, Belgium has contributed 7% finances to the project along with technical assistance especially in making the telescope's lens.
