According to sources, the Uttarakhand governor has asked Chief Minister Harish Rawat to prove majority in the state assembly by March 28, PTI reported on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, the BJP said it has a majority in the Uttarakhand Assembly and should be invited to form a government as the incumbent Congress dispensation was reduced to a minority.

The crisis erupted in the state after Nine Congress MLAs, known to be loyalists of former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna, rebelled against the government and supported the BJP's claim to form a new government in the state.
