Lauding the Centre and the state government for the arrest of former Maharashtra deputy chief minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Chhagan Bhujbal, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Kirit Somaiya on Monday said that the investigation into the irrigation scam is in the final phase and like Bhujbal, NCP leaders Ajit Pawar and Sunil Tatkare would also have to go to jail.

"It is a great achievement of the Modi and Fadnavis governments. At last, all these scandalous people are being sent to jail. The investigation into the irrigation scam is in the final phase, and I am very much certain that like Chhagan Bhujbal, Ajit Pawar and Sunil Tatkare will also have to go jail," Somaiya was quoted as saying by ANI.

Meanwhile, the NCP alleged vendetta politics by the BJP over the arrest of Bhujbal, adding that the party would fight the matter politically in the court of law.

"This is absolutely a vendetta politics done by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Since four-five years, they were alleging this kind of false allegation. To give support to this kind of an allegation, they have taken action. He (Bhujbal) was cooperating to the enquiry. There was no need to arrest him," NCP leader Nawab Malik said.
