Kanhaiya Kumar attacked on JNU campus

JUST IN: A man abused and tried to attack Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union president Kanhaiya Kumar in the varsity campus. The attacker was detained by students and university guards. Kanhaiya is safe and sustained no injuries.

As per initial reports, the attacker, Vikas Choudhry, is an outsider and native of Ghaziabad. Later, talking to the press, Vikas said that he was upset with Kumar over his remarks regarding the army.

"He wants to be a leader. I wanted to teach him a lesson," he said.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, Kanhaiya Kumar had sparked a controversy saying that Indian army personnel rape women in Jammu and Kashmir.
