49 Indian fishermen released by Iran arrive home

As many as 49 Indian fishermen, who were released by the Iranian government on Wednesday, have returned home.

The fishermen, 45 of whom were from Tamil Nadu, had gone to Dubai on contract fishing and were arrested by the Navy on charges of poaching, according to M Karunamurthy, district secretary of the CITU-affiliated Tamil Nadu Meenpidi Thozhirsanga Koottamaippu.

They arrived in Chennai by an Air India 906 flight from Dubai, the sources said.
