Tarun Vijay gets a special Rajya Sabha gift on 60th birthday

On Wednesday, immediately after the acrimonious disruption of the Rajya Sabha, when the House began with question hour, as BJP MP Tarun Vijay rose to ask a question of Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress leader from Goa Shantaram Naik stood up and announced, "Sir, today is Tarun Vijay's birthday.'

It was then spontaneously taken up by the entire House with MPs of all parties responding in unison with a 'Happy birthday, Tarun Vijay', making the Chair, Hamid Ansari, say, 'Yes, yes, I know, happy birthday to Tarun Vijay.'

When it was Rajnath Singh 's turn to answer the question, he began with, "Sir, I know today is his birthday hence I am giving him the answer, Janam din ki hardik badhai." And everybody joined in the laughter that followed.

In a House which had been witnessing acrimonious shouting and disruption of proceedings, it was a refreshing whiff of camaraderie beyond party lines and differences. Tarun Vijay became the focus of everybody's love and affection on his 60th birthday and what's even better, it was all live on TV!
