Bombay HC grants gangster-turned politician Arun Gawli furlough

The Bombay High Court's Nagpur Bench has granted furlough to underworld Don Arun Gawli, giving liberty to concerned authorities to decide on the duration. Gawli is serving life imprisonment at the Nagpur Central prison for the murder of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekhar. Gawli was convicted and sentenced by a sessions court in Mumbai on August 3, 2012 along with 11 others. Special Mcoca Judge Prithviraj Chavan had also imposed a fine of Rs 17 lakh on Gawli, failing which he would have to undergo an additional three-year imprisonment.
