Yet another encounter breaks out in Kupwara

Reports are coming in about yet another encounter breaking out in Kupwara. 

Troops are exchanging gunfire with terrorists in the fourth such encounter within a week. Reinforcements have been rushed to the encounter site.

On June 24, seven terrorists had been shot dead in separate encounters in Petha Wadar forest area of Handwara in Kupwara district. A huge cache of arms and explosives were seized from the operations. The seizure included six AK 47 rifles, maps, Under Barrel Grenade Launchers, grenades, radio sets, night vision devices, compass and Ground Positioning System.

Talking about the spike in the number of encounters in Kupwara, Commander Eight sector Rashtriya Rifles Brigadier Rajeev Puri had earlier said: "About 200 to 220 terrorist are active in Kashmir valley. Among them, about 100 are local terrorists and rest are foreigners."
