Mukhtar Ahmad/Rediff.com reporting from Srinagar: Militants Tuesday overpowered the personal security Officer (PSO) of a middle-rung BJP leader in central Kashmir's Budgam district and fled with the cop's service rifle.

A senior police officer said militants overpowered Bashir Ahmad, a constable posted as PSO of Ghulam Mohammad Chopan, a BJP middle rung leader in Panzan (Chadoora) village of Budgam district.

"After overpowering the PSO, militants fled with his AK-47 service rifle on a motorcycle. A manhunt has been launched to trace the militants,' the officer told Rediff.com.
