Dr Subramanian Swamy has brought disrepute to the BJP government, feel party insiders. As a damage control measure before the Union Cabinet reshuffle and before the Monsoon session of Parliament begins next month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun to interact with select media from today.

First on, is the PM's interview to Times Now. The interview with Arnab Goswami, Frankly Speaking, will be telecast at 6 pm today. The PM will speak on 18 topics for 30 minutes. In fact, Modi's first interview when he was PM designate was with the channel in May 2014. From Thursday onwards, the PM will meet the media in groups at his residence at 7 Racecourse Road.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is reportedly upset with his party for not condemning Subramanian Swamy's volley of attacks on his aides. Jaitley has returned to Delhi from an official trip to China at a time when Swamy's tirade is being seen as a thinly-disguised campaign against the minister himself, rather than his advisers. The BJP MP has in the past advertised his own suitability for Finance Minister.
