Delhi Power Minister Satyendra Jain today wrote a scathing letter to Anil Ambani on frequent power cuts by BSES and asked him to present a road map on the same, according to TV reports.

Warning that the government might consider "strong action", the letter read, "You might have had a cosy relationship with previous Governments in Delhi at the expense of public interest, kindly note that the new Government is fully committed to protecting the interests of the public".

Accusing BSES engineers of incompetence or negligence, the letter further said, "There are also allegations of corruption and financial irregularities including siphoning off funds by your companies".

Last month, the minister said there is no shortage of power in the national capital and whatever problems residents were facing were due to local faults.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal recently called a meeting of discoms where compensation for consumers who face power cuts longer than two hours was a major issue.

The Delhi government has been maintaining that there is no shortage of power in the city and that there is a provision for more power if the need arises, but the discoms were not performing routine maintenance and getting their act together.
