French policeman stabbed to death outside home: source

A French police officer has been stabbed to death in front of his home in the Paris suburbs by a man who then holed up in the house, a police source said.

Elite police have surrounded the residence in Magnanville, which is northwest of the French capital, the source said yesterday.

It was not immediately clear if the suspect was holding any hostages.
