Chidambaram writes 4-page letter to Sonia on reviving Congress's fortunes

P Chidambaram is said to have written a four-page confidential letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi in which he has stated that the BJP government was intentionally going after him and his family by falsely implicating them in concocted cases.

In the letter he has also suggested that with the party reposing faith in him by having him elected to the Rajya Sabha, the AICC should entrust him with more responsibility so that BJP government can be put in the dock, as that would bring about a revival of the Congress party's fortunes.

In the Ishrat Jhan case, Chidambaram has stated in the letter that he was merely implementing the then government's dictum and directions.

Following his election to the Upper House, Chidambaram will now focus on more parliamentary work like special mentions, adjournment motions and raising key economic issues.
