Wide, 4 lane expressways have taken the pleasures out of seeing life along the roads like the highways of old -- homes, bazaars, dhabas, women filling water, elderly folk sitting under the peepal tree... True Indian scenes most often lie on less travelled routes, along roads that have fallen off the map, after modern highways have come up.
