Just in: Delhi High Court dismisses wrestler Sushil Kumar's plea seeking selection trial for 74 kg freestyle category at Rio Olympics. Delhi HC says it will not interfere in the jurisdiction of the wrestling federation unless arbitrary or unreasonable behaviour is shown.

"Though Sushil Kumar is a player with a great record, the decision of Wrestling Federation cannot be held perverse," says the Delhi HC. "Arguments that the trial was held months ago and hence not tenable, are unsound and not accepted," the court said.

Fighting for an Olympic ticket on unfamiliar legal turf, Sushil Kumar's glorious wrestling career met an unceremonious end when the Delhi High Court pronounced its verdict on who gets to board the flight to Rio between him and Narsingh Yadav.

An unfavourable verdict for Sushil may not be the end on the legal front as he can still challenge the ruling in the Supreme Court. But it could well signal the end of the road for perhaps the greatest Indian Olympian, who won two back-to-back medals.
