Heat wave continues in Raj, Sriganganagar boils at 47.7 deg C

Heat wave conditions continued to affect normal life in parts of Rajasthan with Sriganganagar recording the highest temperature in the state at 47.7 degrees Celsius followed by 47.5 degrees Celsius in Phalodi today.

Mercury soared at many places in Bikaner, Kota and Jodhpur divisions and at isolated places in Ajmer, Jaipur and Udaipur divisions in the last 24 hours, the MeT Department said.

Kota, Barmer and Bikaner recorded maximum temperatures of 46.8, 46.5 and 46.2 degree Celsius respectively, whereas the day temperatures in Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur settled at 45.8, 45.5 and 45 degrees Celsius. 

The lowest day temperature in the state was recorded in Pilani at 43.4 degrees Celsius, it said. The department has predicted no respite from the scorching heat for the next 48 hours.
