RS polls: All 6 nominations from Maha found valid

All the six nominations filed from Maharashtra for the Rajya Sabha elections were found valid during scrutiny today, a senior Vidhan Bhawan official said.

The biennial elections for 57 seats in the Upper House from 15 states are due to be held on June 11. 

The last date for withdrawal is June 3.

Prominent among the six candidates in the fray for as many vacancies in Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra are Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal and senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram.

Both Goyal and Chidambaram are set to be elected to Rajya Sabha as the deadline for filing nominations ended yesterday.

Other nominees include former Union minister Praful Patel(NCP), Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and Vikas Mahatme (BJP) and Sanjay Raut (Shiv Sena).
