The fire at India's largest ammunition dump is the latest in a series of reminders how poorly the military maintains its war wastage reserves: the minimum stockpile needed to sustain a minimum number of days of war.Defence minister Manohar Parrikar has ruled out sabotage although the Central Ammunition Depot in Pulgaon, Maharashtra, is a "high value target" for potential enemies.
