Sri Lanka beat Australia by 106 runs; Herath picks fiver

Sri Lanka have won the test match against Australia in Pallekele by 106 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series. 

Spinner Rangana Herath picked five wickets to send Australia crashing for 161 in their second innings.

This is Steven Smith's first loss as Australia's Test captain.

Both sides started the day in with more than a chance of winning, but the match turned in Sri Lanka's favour when Australia lost four wickets in the morning session.

In fact, there was a period when the Aussies played out 17 overs without scoring a run.
