Gurugram police chalks out a detailed plan to avert traffic jams during rains this year.

14 crucial points have been chosen mainly on the NH8 and NH248A and forces deployed 24x7 for the same. At each point, an inspector rank officers will be deployed along with police as per requirement of each spot. Duties are in 2 shifts, the Gurgaon police said.

Meanwhile, work to remove potholes has begun at the Hero Honda Chowk which witnessed its worst-ever traffic jam on the intervening night of July 28-29 as thousands of motorists were stuck on this stretch of the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway for more than 12 hours.

The unprecedented jam, triggered due to heavy rain on Thursday evening and the breach of the Badshahpur drain, brought the city to a standstill on Friday morning. With their employees stuck in traffic, Gurgaon offices registered a major hit in attendance and productivity.

In view of widespread waterlogging, the administration has issued an advisory for the schools to remain closed for two days.
