Gujarat Board: Aadhaar mandatory for board exams

While the Supreme Court in October 2015 allowed linking of Aadhaar cards for availing government schemes only to be on voluntary basis and no person shall be deprived of any benefit for want of Aadhaar, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board on Wednesday made it compulsory for students of Class 10 and 12 with immediate effect.

The state education board passed a Government Resolution on Wednesday making it 'compulsory for students' applications for Class 10 and 12 board examinations to bear the Adhaar card number.'

Though this pertains to only regular students thus, exempting private and open board candidates from this diktat.
