Shot-putter Inderjeet Singh, who failed a dope test after his 'A' sample returned positive for a banned substance, has alleged that there's a conspiracy against him.

"I am not in a situation that I can even speak," the Haryana athlete told CNN-News18 over the phone.

"This is a conspiracy. Why and how this happened only doctors can tell. I don't want to say anything about it. I have given dope Tests everywhere and come out clean. It's a conspiracy to suppress Inderjeet or else he will again speak something," the 28-year-old, who was one of the first Indian athletes to qualify for the Rio Olympics, said.

"I was a contender for a medal [in Rio], and this was what disturbing many that if this guy wins a medal, he will expose us more. NADA [National Anti-Doping Agency] took 5-6 dope tests in the past few months, which caused me a lot of distress at a personal level. I am the one who will fight for myself and the country unto my death," the reigning Asian champion and the 2014 Asian Games silver medallist, said.
