No sign of debris or survivors of IAF plane, says Coast Guard on day 4

Rajan Bargotra, IG, Coast Guard gives an update on the IAF AN 32 plane which went missing on Friday.

"Entire Eastern fleet engaged for a drawn out search operation but we haven't been able to locate either debris or survivors, says Bargotra.

"We have taken help from Govt departments like ISRO, but have not located any debris till now, search is continuing.

"As of now, at sea we have 13 naval vessels, 2 Coast Guard ships deployed from east coast. 12 air sorties undertaken. Search area has been expanded gradually. Aircraft were launched by respective services to carry out a linear search. This is the 4th day of search operations conducted by Coast Guard, IAF and Indian Navy."


Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar visited Tambaram air base near Chennai on Saturday to monitor the search and operations for the missing Indian Air Force aircraft AN-32.

The plane went missing on Friday while flying from Chennai to Port Blair with 29 people on board.
