India has asked the staff members of its High Commission in Islamabad to send their school-going children back to India for security reasons,

Pakistan foreign office has told NDTV. "This is an informal, internal, administrative arrangement we were informed of, more than a month. It is the decision of the Indian High Commission, Islamabad, one on which we are not on a position to comment," the foreign office said.

Reacting to the statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said it is "normal practice" for all countries to review staffing and related policies for their diplomatic missions, "including in view of prevailing circumstances at those stations".

Sources said the decision was taken a year ago to give the high commission staff time to bring their children back ahead of the academic year.

"With effect from this academic session, officials posted in the High Commission of India in Islamabad have been advised to make arrangements for education of their wards outside Pakistan, till further notice," the statement from the ministry read.

The Pakistan foreign office's statement comes days after India accused Islamabad of "unabashed embrace of terrorism" and warned that its stated goal of detaching Kashmir from India will "not be realised to the end of eternity".
